課程概述

This course is designed to increase student’s knowledge in both concept and theory development. Moreover, the advances abilities of concept analysis and knowledge synthesis of theory development with strategies for testing theoretical statements will be enhanced. 

課程目標
1. To develop scholarly curiosity about the role of theory in the development and progress of the discipline of nursing
2. To have a historical understanding of nursing discipline’s progress toward its present theoretical perspective
3. To gain insight of the sources and resources for the concept and theory development of nursing: Critically evaluate, compare, and contrast the major theory development strategies used in nursing
4. To develop theory with cultural sensitivity to provide culturally competent care
5. To create a critical and supportive learning atmosphere 
課程要求
1. Active participation: Punctuality and attendance are expected.
2. Reading and discussion: Students are required to read all required readings before class. Raise at least one question related to the readings to the discussant prior to the class and make two copies of the question list to the faculty for in class discussion. In addition, a one-page reflection of reading is required for each class.
3. Concept mapping/theory construction presentation: Identify a concept in your interest and conduct a concept analysis and mapping. Prepare a 20-minute presentation, plus 25 minutes discussion, of your concept analysis. The presentation begins on December 3, 2018. The final paper is due on January 7, 2019. (作業格式: 標楷體, 1.5-spaced with font size 12,參考資料APA (6th ed.) 頁數為10-18頁,包含參考資料。)
